Tricyclists from different parts of the country make their living by carrying passengers, in the sun or the chilly wind. And they also have to avoid the confiscation by the police. Chad Grochowski, a photographer from USA, saw these people and began to shot them. What does he think of these marginal taxis? And what are the stories between the photographer and the tricyclists?

Against its hustling and bustling, people’s backs and silhouettes are just silent and tranquil.

The 2.5-hour event was pretty successful, with about 2 dozens of people and a couple of musicians as well. Since Prof Han has made some improvements to the studio by investing a brand new air-con, we little folks don’t need to be kissed by mosquitoes as much as before. What’s more, with the help of another volunteer, we managed to setup wireless internet! This is really exciting, and Image Tunnel is becoming a much better! More improvements are coming along, so stay tune!

On the night before the Dragon Boat Festical the author read an attractive article on the internet and three days later he joined a team of strangers and went to Sanqingshan Mountain. But the bad weather and a series of small accidents made the trip a nightmare. In the end, he returned with disappointment. However, was this exprience really that bad? Seeking Naito Konan’s Footprints: the Changes of Nanking

A century ago, Japanese professor Naito Konan came to Nanking, travelled to many tourists spots in just four days and published a book when he returned to Japan. The places he visited at that time are still the places we visit if we’re in Nanking. However, it’s hard for us to imagin how these spots look like a hundred years ago. Some of the tourists and citizens can tell you a brief history of these places, but most of these tales are long forgotten. The author was born in Nanking and now works in Shanghai. He went back to his hometown during holidays and felt the changes of Nanking when following Naito Konan’s trace…

The salon was indeed very exciting; we showed a couple of movies (you may refer to our program notes in our previous blog entry), with topics revealing modern China; from sex and relationships in the “post-80″ generation, and a love story between a young couple in the village.

Following was a chit-chat session between the audience and the directors, and Kavin Zhang, director of “80 Hormones”, shared insights and tips about the life of a freelance director.

Alart ended with a surprise performance by a guitarist; Prof Han invited him to participate our Salon, but nobody would have expected him to play!
